Other activities to do in the mountains

There are so many fantastic things to experience in and around Morzine, you’d be mad just to stick to skiing and snowboarding!

Snow Mobiling

If you want an adrenaline rush then get on the back of one of these! Everyday from 5.30pm to midnight, you can experience a 20km high speed guide through the forests. You can choose between a single or double person snow mobile, and the rides take around 45 minutes.

Snow Shoeing

Is a great way to really get off the beaten track and discover the mountains. There are a number of mapped trails so you just need to hire snow shoes to go on your own adventure. If you would prefer to go with a qualified snow shoe guide there are a number of interesting treks, including a day long trek with lunch in a mountain chalet, torch-lit treks at night and themed treks that focus on discovering flora and fauna.

Heli Skiing

If you are looking for the experience of a lifetime, skiing fresh tracks through knee deep powder, you should give Heli-skiing a go. Only available in Italy or Switzerland, you will be picked up and dropped off by helicopter after an exhilarating blast down the mountain, accompanied by a mountain guide.

Paragliding

One of the best sports out there, paragliding is the perfect way to take in the spectacular views over the whole of the Portes du Soleil. Qualified instructors organise accompanied flights, and for those of you who want to take it a step further, there are courses and lessons available for all levels.

It doesn’t just stop at skiing and snowboarding

Dog Sledding

For those of you who fancy being the leader of the pack of huskies racing along forest paths…this is for you. A great way to see the mountains from a different perspective it is also an insight into the world of ‘mushing’.The musher will tell you different commands and give you a brief introduction into how to handle the sled… and for the next hour you will hold on tightly! If you would prefer take in the scenery from the comfort of the musher’s sled, which is another option available…it is just as exhilarating.

Night Sledging

This may be one of the most memorable nights of your trip…hurtling down the piste in the pitch black on a sledge with only your friends and a head torch for company! Accompanied by seasoned professionals, you are stopped at regular intervals to regroup and be given tips on how to best get round the next corner or bump.

Meeting at the bottom of the Pleney lift, you reach the top of the mountain by cable car, head lamps and sledges are provided.
